Putting the Education in Physical Education LIMITED
Friday August 8, 2025 11:30am - 12:45pm PDT
In this fun, fast-paced session, we’ll show how easy it is to bring AVID strategies into your Physical Education classroom—without losing the movement and energy that makes Physical Education great. We’ll focus on simple ways to build vocabulary, use focused note-taking, add quick journal reflections, and make the most of those rainy, hot, windy... all the fun days. These tools help students connect what they’re doing in class to real learning, and they work for all fitness levels. You’ll leave with ready-to-use ideas, templates, and activities that fit right into your current routine. Plus, we’ll get you moving, talking, and thinking—just like your students! Whether you’re AVID-savvy or new to it, this session will give you practical, Physical Education-friendly ways to boost student engagement and what you already do in your classes.

Physical Education? How About Sports Education! LIMITED
Friday August 8, 2025 1:45pm - 3:00pm PDT
In this session, we’ll share how we shifted from a traditional Physical Education format to a student-centered Sports Education model. Students are placed in teams with assigned roles—such as coach, fitness coach, statistician, and public relations officer—and take the lead in running practices, creating fitness plans, and managing their team’s progress. Throughout the unit, they document everything using Google Sites, building both digital literacy and accountability. We’ll walk through how we structure the model, manage roles, assess student work, and keep things organized. You’ll leave with practical tools, templates, and examples to help you implement this approach in your own classes. If you're looking for a way to give students more ownership and purpose in Physical Education, this is a solid place to start.
