In a world reshaped by generative AI and algorithmic media, students face unprecedented challenges in navigating truth, credibility, and meaning. The gap between what school offers and what students experience outside it is growing—unless we respond with learning that is personally relevant, inquiry-driven, and media-savvy. Join Glen Warren—teacher librarian, coauthor of Education for Love and Wisdom, and co-writer of California’s Model School Library Standards—for an interactive session on building deeper relevance through media and information literacy. Grounded in the “LOVE of Learning” framework (Learning Opportunities Valuing Everyone), this session will show how student questions, interests, and divergent thinking can turn media literacy into a catalyst for connection and purpose. Attendees will explore how to guide students in evaluating media, questioning AI-generated content, and reclaiming agency in an attention economy. Participants will leave with hands-on tools, adaptable inquiry models, and examples that bridge media literacy across disciplines.
