Small Groups, Big Impact: Fueling Students in Grades K-2
Friday August 8, 2025 9:45am - 11:00am PDT
During the presentation, I plan to cover best practices for small group instruction in grades K-2. We will discuss the benefits of small group instruction for ALL students as part of our Tier 1 instruction. I will share how to use data to group students by skill. We will review what an effective small group lesson looks like, ensuring all components of structured literacy are present. If time permits, we will discuss activities that the rest of the class can be doing while the teacher is working with her small groups, and how to establish those routines for literacy centers. Teachers will walk away with small group lesson planning templates, as well as sample lesson plans for their small group instruction, and literacy center activities that can be implemented.
